Chief Engineer, HW
iLOQ is your key to a rewarding future. You share the passion to make things happen and want to join a team of innovators who are helping make the world a safer and yet more accessible place.
Making life accessible
iLOQ is an international company headquartered in Finland that offers intelligent locking systems and total access management solutions. We guarantee safe access to buildings and facilities. Our mission is to make everyday life easier with a diverse range of safe and sustainable products for individual buildings and large real estate complexes.
We reinvented the lock. iLOQ's self-powered digital locking and mobile access solutions work without batteries or mechanical keys – something nobody thought was possible until we did it. We're a product company at heart and pushing the limits of low-power electronics every day.
Now we're looking for an experienced Chief Engineer, HW to join our R&D team. If you're an electronics professional who likes building products, solving tricky technical challenges and being involved in everything from first prototype to maintenance handover – this could be your spot.
This role is located at our Head office at Oulu, Finland.
What you'll do
In this role you will:
Own the hardware design and lead HW development in our R&D projects
Work hands-on with HW architecture, component selections, schematics, layout, measurements and design verification
Turn high-level product requirements into clear technical requirements – and make sure the design meets them
Lead technology studies and technical decision making
Help structure HW tasks and support project planning and risk management
Keep technical documentation and HW deliverables in good shape
Work closely with mechanics, embedded software, testing, sourcing, production and other project stakeholders
Spot things that could work better – tools, methods, practices – and make them happen.
What you'll bring
Relevant technical degree (B.Sc. or M.Sc.)
Strong experience in electronics design
System-level thinking and experience from complex product development projects
Solid schematics and layout skills with modern EDA tools (e.g. Altium Designer)
Hands-on experience in HW troubleshooting, measurements and design verification
Experience with low-power, wireless or compact embedded devices is a big plus
Experience in simulation SWs and ability to adapt state of the art working methods to ensure efficient product development and high product quality
Understanding of design for manufacturability, testability, reliability and cost
Experience leading a technical sub-team and driving change
Understanding of compliance, EMC, ESD or other electronics-related standards
Good written and spoken English skills.
What you'll get
You will build products that end up in buildings all over the world and ease the everyday lives of our customers. You will have real responsibility and freedom to operate without big corporation bureaucracy. We ensure you’ll have room to grow professionally in a fast-growing international company.
We offer you a workplace within a collaborative and forward-thinking company culture, friendly and skilled colleagues, proper onboarding, and a solid benefits package: bonus program, full lunch benefit, extensive occupational health care with an annual dental check, life insurance, plus regular team and company events.
We are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where diversity is valued and all employees are treated with respect. We encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply and join us in promoting an inclusive and diverse workplace.
